Japanese firms to acquire 10% in Khabarovsk airport in February

TOKYO, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- A consortium of Japanese companies Sojitz, JOIN, and JACTO plans to acquire a 10% stake in Khabarovsk International Airport in February 2019, Konstantin Basyuk, board of directors chairman of the airport’s operator Khabarovsk Airport, told PRIME on Tuesday, when he signed the deal with Sojitz CEO Masayoshi Fujimoto.

Under the agreement, the consortium can raise its stake in the airport to 25% plus one share.

“We have been negotiating for almost four years, but we’ve managed to strike the deal. I think that the Japanese consortium will de jure become a shareholder of the airport of Khabarovsk in February after our additional share issue has been registered,” he said.

The airport is now building a 4.9 billion ruble terminal for domestic flights with an annual capacity of 3 million passengers. The launch is scheduled for July–September 2019.
